AVWF Parent Report
In the midst of an incredible academic odyssey, a newspaper article in the fall of 2007 brought AVWF to our attention. Therapy began in mid-January 2008.
Brief summary from the parents and/or Foster parents at the end of April 2008:
Foster son, 14, diagnosed with ADHD and cognitive impairment in all areas
Foster parents notice:
He participates in conversations, understands humorous things, and gives quick-witted answers.
He questions expressions that he previously understood completely differently.
Understanding and completing assignments is now easy.
Working independently is now second nature, increasing interest and self-confidence.
The quality of life within the family has improved significantly.
Foster son notices:
I can concentrate better and for longer.
At school, I now understand assignments and tasks and can therefore complete them independently.
Reviewing assignments and tasks several times is no longer necessary, so I'm faster.
I can think faster.
Background noises no longer distract me and don't bother me at all.
I can only play computer games for a short time, after which I find them annoying.
Dealing with "formerly" difficult colleagues is now fun.
Before, Before AVWF, I was sometimes a little off-the-cuff.
My 15-year-old daughter was diagnosed with dyscalculia and poor concentration, diagnosed as mild ADD.
Three weeks after the first therapy session, I received unexpected feedback from the teacher:
She is more motivated.
She works more conscientiously.
She can concentrate better.
Parents notice:
She is more resilient, less quick-tempered.
She is much calmer.
School and learning are suddenly fun, and her thirst for knowledge has been ignited.
She no longer lags behind in dance class (the dance teacher asked what had happened and whether she was taking dance classes elsewhere).
She is more organized.
My daughter notices:
I can concentrate much better.
I no longer get distracted.
Background noises no longer bother me, I don't even notice them, and therefore don't distract me.
Things I didn't understand before, no longer cause me any trouble, e.g., algebra.
Life is much more fun because everything is easier.
Life is right. Funny when everything is so simple
